Scope and Contents
Includes documents of the Chicago Kindergarten College, National Kindergarten College and National Kindergarten and Elementary College (predecessors to NLU). Founded in 1886 as Miss Harrison's Kindergarten Training School, the school became the Chicago Kindergarten College in 1893. In 1912, when the college partnered with the National Kindergarten Assosciation, the school became the National Kindergarten College. In 1917, the school expanded the curriculum to include elementary education, and the school became the National Kindergarten and Elementary College. This collection contains promotional and marketing material for the college, correspondence, ledgers, audit reports, memos and meeting notes, and course lectures.
