Scope and Contents Includes documents of the Chicago Kindergarten College, National Kindergarten College and National Kindergarten and Elementary College (predecessors to NLU). Founded in 1886 as Miss Harrison's Kindergarten Training School, the school became the Chicago Kindergarten College in 1893. In 1912, when the college partnered with the National Kindergarten Assosciation, the school became the National Kindergarten College. The materials in Boxes 1-5 consist of files created by Prof. Joseph Fischer while he chaired the IDS Department, 1994-1997, and donated by Prof. Fischer in 2008. They are supplemented by an "Introduction to the M.Ed. Field Based Program: Philosophy, Structure & Processes" (1984) and "Handbook for Term 1" (1984), donated by Prof. Fletcher DuBois in 2011.

Work belonging to Susan Blow, Carolina Gerke, who studied with Froebel's widow, Minna Shellhorn, who studied with Froebel, Mabel Agnes Gerrish, Carrie Coit, Margaret Maclachlan,and Edward Heall.
