Scope and Contents

Agnes Adams was born in Robinson, IL. in 1897. In 1924, she recieved her Ph. D from the University of Chicago. After graduation, Dr. Adams became a faculty member at the National Kindergarten and Elementary College (which later became the National College of Education). In 1948, she was selected to establish a Teacher Training Center headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. When returning to the United States, she resumed her role at the National College of Education. Throughout her time at the college, she took on many roles including Education faculty, Director of Curriculum, Registrar, Director of the Guidance Center, and Director of Student Teaching. In 1980, Dr. Adams was awarded NCE's first Dinstinguished Service medallion. This collection contains personal correspondence, news clippings, meeting notes, research, memos, photographs, NCE materials relating to Faculty Senate and the Curriculum Committee, and the Head Start program, as well as correspondence from her time in South Korea.
