Biographical / Historical
Linda Tafel joined the faculty of the National College of Education in 1981, where she worked in various capacities for 33 years. Prior to her work at NCE, she was an educator at various schools including Hinsdale South High School, Belvidere High School, and at Eastern Illinois University. While at NCE (which became National Louis University in 1990), Linda held numerous teaching and leadership roles at the university over the course of her career, including serving as Dean and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. She was also a dedicated instructor and mentor to hundreds of current school leaders throughout the Chicago area, and advised Doctoral candidates. Linda Tafel's collection also contains her research on the Kindergarten Movement and Elizabeth Harrison, pioneer in the movement and founder of NLU.
